Mourning the Loss of Brandon Dubois

With great sadness we report that one of our BRO Experience community members was fatally shot near his Brooklyn home on May 20th. Brandon Dubois was with us for five months in our BRO Project program. He earned his certificate of completion in a ceremony at The BRO Space just three days before the tragedy. Brandon was 24 years old. He was always one of the first to show up for programs in the morning three days a week and had a particular love for making art, drawing and painting with great skill. Our hearts are with his family and loved ones.

The BRO Project is our most recently-developed program, designed to offer positive support for young men ages 18-24 who have become disconnected from community and school. Brandon was one of ten young men to complete our first cohort of the program and we were honored to know him.

We’re thankful to our partners at Bridge Street Development Corporation and the Center for Community Alternative for their support in creating meaningful experiences for all our participants.

We mourn the loss of Brandon Dubois. We remain committed to being there for young men of color and facilitating systemic and personal change to create safer communities for all those we have the honor of working with.
