Happy 4th Anniversary to BRO!
The 4-year anniversary celebration at The BRO Space was absolutely glowing with energy, love, and positive potential. Most importantly, the space was filled with young men of color embodying Authenticity, Bravery, and Connection.
Four the past four years we have been crafting programs to elevate the potential of Brooklyn’s young men. So many outstanding leaders have supported the mission. And our team has grown to include such a dynamic group of fearless change-makers. Our programs have been instrumental in helping hundreds of young men build resilience, confidence, and leadership skills necessary for their success. As we celebrate 4 years of growth as an organization, we remain committed to the importance of space as something that is both held and co-created – every school, room, or circle we step into holds transformative potential that is grounded in the presence, camaraderie, and brilliance of every participant in the room.
To reflect on the tremendous progress of our participants and the spaces we have created together, we held a culminating gallery exhibition entitled "The Room Where it Happens" that showcased our participants' work across programming. As our participants have navigated their own personal development journeys over the past months, they have created physical manifestations of their dreams, how they see themselves, and how they see their communities. We are so excited to continue reflecting upon their hard work together and witness the transformative impact of their self-reflection.
A jewel of the gathering was the unveiling of Soundtrack of My Life, a book of writings and images from our latest Behind the Bars cohort conducted at Brownsville Academy High School. You can view this masterpiece here.
