Extraordinary Man of the Week: Maino, Platinum Rapper and Brooklyn Hero

Today we honor Maino, a Bed Stuy-raised artist, radio personality, and community change agent. Growing up, Jermaine faced the hardships many young men in our neighborhoods know too well. After spending over a decade incarcerated, he refused to let his circumstances define him. Through music, advocacy, and mentorship, Maino has shown us what it means to rise above adversity and use your voice to inspire others.

This year, Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso named August 16th Maino Day in Brooklyn.

This week, we will honor Maino in person as the recipient of our Resilient Visionary Award at this year's Extraordinary Men Awards.
