Behind the Bars

Behind the Bars is a dynamic, music-centered cognitive-behavioral group curriculum designed for middle and high school students.

Hosted at The BRO Space and various pop-up locations, this program leverages the power of lyrics from popular music and poetry to spark meaningful discussions on critical topics such as mental health, societal inequities, gender norms, violence, peer pressure, and financial literacy.

Through facilitated workshops, text analysis, journaling, and group dialogue, participants engage in deep personal exploration, fostering self-awareness, resilience, and emotional well-being.

As part of Be Well Bro, Behind the Bars aligns with our mission to provide young men with accessible, culturally relevant mental health resources in a safe and supportive environment. By connecting emotions and experiences to music and poetry, this program encourages mindfulness, critical thinking, and healing through creative expression.
